Mayor Tanjong Martin of Tubah talking to the press

Councillors of Tubah Council have voted a deliberation to incorporate second semester credit cards especially from the road fund and some sectorial ministries to the 2025 budget.

The deliberation was voted on Friday 1st August 2025 as the council met to evaluate the execution of projects as at 30th June 2025.

The midterm session places the execution of projects under the budget of the council at 95% realization. To Mayor Tanjong Martin of Tubah, the council is committed to delivering on all the projects earmarked for 2025.

"The security climate is improving and I think the projects directly under our execution have been carried out. Just some few are still ongoing but I can assure you that they will be completed on time." Mayor Tanjong Martin said.

Conversely, the execution of projects under the Public Investment budget is staggering at 17 percent.

The council received 13 projects worth 736 million from the state, the council support Fund for mutual assistance (FEICOM), HIMO and the Ministry of the Economy, planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT).

To Mayor Tanjong Martin, the low execution of PIB projects is very surprising because "all the projects were awarded before the end of March. The contractors have been installed on site. The Council Development Officer and myself will undertake a visit to some of the project sites to know the difficulty." The Mayor said.

He proceeded with a clear message to his councillors; "everywhere there is a project, you people are supposed to be the first to supervise these projects and report to the council. Tell us how works are unfolding in your various constitutencies and we will do the followup." Mayor Tanjong reiterated.

Some projects that are ongoing include the rehabilitation of the Bambui palace museum, the construction of market stalls and a fence at the Bambili market, the provision of a water tank at Achi, the rehabilitation of a bloc of two classrooms in Sabga, the construction of a municipal slaughter house, the supply of equipment to the youth Empowerment centre, the HIMO Project to pave a road linking ENS street to CCAST street amongst others.

Presentation of the Updated Tubah Council Development plan

The session also witnessed the presentation of the updated Tubah Council Development Plan. The plan and earmarked projects for 2026 were applauded by the councillors. To some, "this is more inclusive and projects have been spread across all the villages that make up Tubah." Some councillors said.

The Mayor insisted that councillors should work with village and neighbourhood committees to ensure that projects are selected, prioritized and submitted to the council.

Tubah mortuary

One of the projects also realized at 100 percent, is the Tubah mortuary. The administration of the subdivision, councillors and Fons of Tubah undertook a visit to the mortuary which can start receiving corpses.

"The mortuary is ready. A mortuary attendant is already here and can commence work immediately. This mortuary was constructed to relief the population from traveling long distances to deposit their corpses." Tanjong Martin said.

The mortuary attendant said that corpses can be preserved at the mortuary for more than three months. He also said the aspect of identification of corpses will be thoroughly done and everything needed to preserve the corpses were present.

The council will undertake the second phase of the project which will be to construct a fence round the facility.

Municipal police

As the 2025 midterm evaluation session of the council drew to a close, the council welcomed 18 municipal police recently trained from the National School of Local Administration (NASLA). The performance from the council police officers received a thunderous applause from the councillors who said they are ready. They were called upon to carryout their activities judiciously and ensure that the spaces opened to the public are in order.

He also called on the councillors to prepare very well ahead of the upcoming Presidential elections.

"When you look at the number of candidates, it is event that we might be receiving some of them here in Tubah or their representatives. It is incumbent on us all to be ready." The DO said.

Councillors of Tubah Council will proceed after the session to a two day visit to Nanga-Eboko. The visit is aimed at inspiring the Tubah youth to be very productive even if they didn't go to school. The visit will commence this Sunday 3rd August 2025.
