The staff of Tubah Council have celebrated the 139th edition of Labour Day with a call to be assiduous at work despite the challenging times.
Speaking as he communed with his staff the Mayor of Tubah, Tanjong Martin encouraged them to be selfless in their service to the population, law abiding and focus.
"I encouraged them to be hardworking. I can assure my collaborators that hard work pays. So when they're all doing the right thing, it will move this council to higher heights." Mayor Tanjong Martin said.
The celebration of the 2025 May Day gave the council administration and staff some time to have a deep reflection on the theme; "social dialogue and decent work for a peaceful Cameroon."
Here, the exchanges were frank. The staff called on the Mayor and his colleagues to be more open to them, give them a listening ear even when they're wrong. They explained that the working environment cannot be conducive if it is difficult to express their sincere thoughts.
A message which Mayor Tanjong Martin said will be implemented going forward. He also expounded on the theme to say "we must work in very close collaboration with our workers. In Tubah Council I can assure that their welfare our utmost priority. We want them to be comfortable so as to deliver the best services to our people. Yes they're moments where they commit very serious offences but like they have said, we will listen to them and make amends." Mayor Tanjong Martin said.
The council administration and staff were joined in their celebration by the Divisional Officer for Tubah, Massango Metougue Narcisse who emphasized that frantic collaboration between council stakeholders will foster the development of Tubah.
