Launch of the 2022 Grand Prix Chantal Biya

The 22nd edition of the Chantal Biya international cycling tour has gone underway in Garoua.

while officially opening this year’s race, Cameroon’s Minister of sports and physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi saluted the organisers for making the race a yearly event, attracting more and more foreign cyclists. 

Minister Kombi went further to congratulate the people of Garoua for their massive turnout at the launch of race this October 3rd 2022 at the Roum D’Ajia esplanade.

CAMTEL Bluetifies Garoua 

No fewer than 11 teams are taking part in the competition with 8 teams coming from abroad.

Cameroon is presenting 3 teams at this year’s race. The National team, the SNH Vélo club and the FAP Vélo club.

The race will run from the 2 to the 8 October 2022 with opening lap around the city of Garoua, covering a distance of 99.2km.


On October 5, the second lap of the race will be run on the Yaounde-Ngoumou-Ngomezap highway covering a distance of 161.4km.

Amongst the participants for this year’s race is 2017 winner, Clovis Kamzong Abesselo of the SNH Vélo Club who will be squaring with Lukas Kubis of Slovakia who won the 2021 edition.


Like the 21st edition, this year’s race is powered by the Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL. The telecom giants have promised to incredible prices to the winners of the yellow jersey for the best cyclist.  Green for the best sprinter dotted jersey for the best mountaineer, and the white jersey for the fastest young rider.


Since it’s inception in 2003, Cameroon had won the Grand Prix Chantal Biya only 4 times and the three selections this here have promised a tough time for their competitors.
