The newly elected president of Menchum Journalists' Union, Cham Victor Bama has called on Journalists to engage in building peace and transforming mindsets.

Speaking shortly after taking the barton of command, the publisher of Municipal Updates and Chronicle Times noted that we can "better transform mindsets through effective communication, The population needs accurate information from Journalists who we are."

The leader of the six year old association also calls on journalists in other parts of the restive North West Region to come together in synergy to foster peace.

His mandate baptized as the" New Era" will see the promotion of effective Grassroot communication to promote peace, justice and development.

The Native of Weh Village in Fungom subdivision, will have to work with the living forces of the Division to build long lasting peace.

Menchum Division just like the other 6 Divisions that make up North West Cameroon has been greatly affected by an armed insurgency since 2017 with human lives reduced to almost nothing.

People have been killed for simply expressing their opinions. Others have decided that the present state of insecurity continues to flourish as fake news is what the local population consumes.

By coming together, the Journalists who either hail from Menchum or lived and worked in the Division want to serve the population with factual and verifiable information that can promote development and building peace in the Division.

The 7 man Exco now have the daunting task to convey a message of hope back to the local population through development oriented reporting.
