Bamenda II Mayor aids health centers, ease productivity



Symbolic handing over of equipments


Regarding the importance of health and welfare of the inhabitants of Bamenda, coupled with the the government's plan of reconstruction of the North West and South West regions, the population is expected to be in good health for effective execution of this plan

In that light, the Mayor of Bamenda II municipality Chenwi Peter with the health government have yielded to the demands of some integrated medical centers in providing health equipments to these centers in order to facilitate productive and and to ensure the health of patients. 

This comes at a time when the centers lacked medical health care equipments to ensure proper treatment of patients as testified by Chi Solange and Maleh Solange, director of Atuakom and Akumalam integrated health center respectively 

"I am pleased to see these equipments, it has been our wish, we needed these equipments because there were some lapses in health care services. So I belief that with the provision of these equipments, we will improve upon the health care services and also the working conditions of health personnel." Chi Solange told The Observer 


"I was transferred to Akumalam and when I got there we had a lot of lapses and difficulties especially in terms of equipments, must at time we do not have sufficient equipments and at times when we go for out reach, the centre will be left with nothing. 
That is why we demanded for these equipments. At times, we have administrative works we will have to leave Akumalam to town to type these documents which is very difficult. The equipments will help ease our work at the hospital." Maleh Solange explained 


Items donated

The equipments handed to Atuakom, Akumalam integrated health centers include Desktop, Medical Personal scale, Automatic blood pressure monitor with memory, Electronic centrifuge, Blood glucose monitoring system, Vaccum extractor set, Aneroid sphygmomanometer, Microscope, Matrass, Beds and others 




Some weeks back Mayor Chenwi Peter donated some items as well as paid bills of patients who were admitted at the Regional Hospital Bamenda to reduce the burden. This time he thought it wise to extend the gesture to districts with the help of the ministry for proper medical care of patients

"We have people in the North West who have been displaced and cannot have access to health care which is very important. We cannot be talking about construction without health, so we need to make sure that we assist the population till they are strong to reconstruct our municipality and our region. We had invited the directors on integrated health centres who had made proposals on what they want because the different health centers do not have the same needs. For us to do this, we requested for some assistance from the ministry based on the needs of patients and health care personnel" Mayor Chenwi Peter 

This will also be extended to other centers including Chomba, Ntanka, to ensure that patients are well taken care of firstly an eventual healthy an active population

The move wad saluted by the receivers and promised to put them into good use to safe lives and to ease the work on health care personnel
