CPDM bigwigs praise Iris Tandong for the massive mobilisation
Party leaders describe the rally as the biggest youth mobilisation in Santa since 2016, as young militants pledge to strengthen the party’s grassroots support
Youths of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) in Santa have reaffirmed their loyalty to the ruling party, promising to mobilise voters and secure a landslide victory in the 2027 elections.
The declaration was made during a major youth rally organised on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Santa, under the theme, “One Santa, United for Peace and Development.”
The gathering was chaired by Tandong Iris Zoum, YCPDM Section President for Mezam II-Santa, and attended by the National President of the YCPDM, Auguste Essomba, members of the National Bureau, section presidents from other areas, parliamentarians, mayors, traditional rulers and Santa elites.
Addressing the crowd, Tandong Iris Zoum said the large turnout demonstrated the commitment of young people to the CPDM and its activities in Santa.
He recalled President Paul Biya’s declaration that the current mandate was one for youths and women, saying this had given young people greater reason to hope for increased participation in political leadership.
He urged eligible voters who had registered to collect their voter’s cards, stressing that participation in elections was essential to achieving the party’s objectives.
“Your card is your power, your voice, and your future,” he told the gathering.
Tandong Iris pledged that the YCPDM in Mezam II-Santa would intensify mobilisation in every quarter, village and street to strengthen the party’s support ahead of the upcoming elections.
He expressed confidence that Santa would deliver a strong result for the CPDM, while reminding supporters that victory depended on active participation and the collection of voter’s cards.
Ntumfor Fru Jonathan, Chargé de Mission at the CPDM Central Committee, praised the organisers for bringing together such a large number of young militants.
He described the gathering as the heaviest youth mobilisation in Santa since 2016 and expressed confidence in the party’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
He urged young people to take responsibility, exercise patience and support candidates they considered capable of serving the public.
“Youths of Santa, take your responsibility. Vote responsible people. Be patient. Don’t be in a hurry,” he advised.
The CPDM Mezam II Section President, Mbah Shupong Michael, congratulated Tandong Iris Zoum and his team for organising the rally within just one month.
He described the turnout as evidence of the energy and commitment of young party members.
However, he called on the youth wing to maintain humility and honesty, while respecting the party’s basic texts and ensuring that their activities did not damage its reputation.
He also encouraged the continuation of such gatherings as a means of strengthening the party’s organisation and bringing young militants closer to its leadership.
YCPDM National President- Essomba AugusteThe YCPDM National President Auguste Essomba expressed satisfaction with the mobilisation and the messages delivered by the speakers.
He declared his confidence in the CPDM’s political strength in the North West Region, stating that the party remained firmly rooted in the area.
“It is impossible to kill the CPDM, and no party can kill the CPDM,” Essomba declared, drawing applause from the crowd.
He described the YCPDM Section President in Santa as an important figure in the party’s mobilisation efforts and urged young militants to work alongside older party members.
According to him, cooperation between generations was essential to preparing young people for political responsibilities and avoiding internal divisions.
“Prepare yourself to work beside your elders. There will be no generational conflicts. Respect and move with your elders to learn how to manage political issues,” he advised.
Essomba further stressed the importance of choosing suitable candidates for the next elections, telling the youths that the party’s future success would depend not only on mobilisation but also on the quality of those selected to represent it.
The rally ended with chants in support of the CPDM, National President Paul Biya.
