PPRD: Dreamland Connect Delivers Electricity Project to Oshie

           Oshie village receives electricity

The population of Oshie village in Momo Division are celebrating a major milestone following the provisional reception of an electricity project executed by Dreamland Connect PLC under the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions (PPRD).

For a community that has waited for years for access to electricity, the completion of the project has brought renewed hope and excitement, opening the door to new social and economic opportunities.

The project is part of the rehabilitation and extension of the Mbengwi–Oshie electricity network in Momo Division. Its contractual scope includes the construction of a 19.985-kilometre main medium-voltage line, additional distribution lines, transformer installations and other equipment required to support electricity supply to the beneficiary communities.

For the population, however, the significance of the project goes far beyond the infrastructure itself.

Electricity is expected to transform everyday life in Oshie, particularly for children and young people who have had limited access to reliable lighting for their studies. Households will benefit from greater convenience, while traders, artisans and small business owners could gain new opportunities to expand their activities and improve their livelihoods.

The people who spoke about the project expressed deep satisfaction, with some recalling that they had spent their entire lives in a community without electricity.

Their reaction reflects the broader significance of the development. Each electricity pole, transformer and connection represents not only a piece of infrastructure, but also the possibility of improved education, increased productivity, entrepreneurship and greater access to modern services.

For Dreamland Connect PLC, the delivery of the project represents a contribution to infrastructure development and the improvement of living conditions in communities across the region.

The project also underscores the importance of the PPRD's continued investment in essential infrastructure in the North West and South West Regions.
