Hon. Kumase Simon, MP Santa Special Constituency
Donates medical equipment to Health Centres in the Santa Health District
Hon. Kumase Simon Powoh, Member of Parliament for Santa Special Constituency, has called on young people to embrace education, entrepreneurship, responsible leadership and peace as essential pillars for the development of Santa.
He made the call while addressing the Santa Youth Conference on the topic, “Empowering the Youth for Responsible Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Peace, and Sustainable Development.”
Hon. Kumase acknowledged the challenges facing young people, including unemployment, financial difficulties and limited opportunities, but urged them not to allow these obstacles to discourage them from pursuing their ambitions.

He encouraged youths to invest in education, vocational training and practical skills, stressing that qualifications must be supported by competence, discipline and integrity.
On unemployment, the MP highlighted Santa’s agricultural potential, tourism, cultural heritage and access to markets as areas young people could explore to create jobs and income. He encouraged them to consider agricultural cooperatives, food processing, livestock production, transport services and digital businesses rather than relying solely on formal employment.
He also warned against drug abuse, violence and criminal activities, urging young people to protect their health, reputation and future. He called on them to promote peace, dialogue and responsible citizenship, particularly given the insecurity that has affected the North-West Region.
Addressing political participation, Hon. Kumase encouraged youths to understand their rights, follow public affairs and assess leaders based on their conduct and contributions. He cautioned against allowing political differences to divide families and communities.
The MP further called for greater unity across Santa’s villages, saying collective action was necessary to address shared development challenges. He urged young people to respect their elders while contributing fresh ideas and participating meaningfully in decision-making.
He proposed practical steps following the conference, including skills development, youth-led business initiatives, mentorship programmes, awareness campaigns against drug abuse and violence, and stronger cooperation between youth associations and community institutions.
Hon. Kumase reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for improved infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic opportunities for the constituency. He proceeded with a donation of medical didactics to all the Health Centres of Santa through the YCPDM Section President, Tandong Iris.
