Mayor Tanjong Martin during orientation of the holiday makers
Tubah Council has recruited about 200 students for its 2026 long holiday job programme. The aim is to help young people gain work experience, learn new skills, and take part in community development.
The recruitment exercise was completed on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. The programme allows students to stay active during the holiday while learning how public services work.
This year, Tubah Council is working with the University of Bamenda. The students will be placed in groups of 50 and trained by university teachers and other experts.
The training will cover topics such as citizenship, leadership, civic duties, ethics, and community service. Organisers say the goal is to prepare young people to become responsible citizens and contribute to development in their communities.
Apart from training, the students will also earn some money during the programme. This will help them with their personal and school needs during the holiday.
The programme is a regular project under the leadership of Mayor Tanjong Martin. The council says it wants to support young people by giving them both jobs and learning opportunities during the long vacation.
Participants will work in different areas of the municipality, including sanitation, office support, and other community tasks.
Overall, the programme is designed to help students gain experience, earn income, and learn how to take part in building their community.
