Mankon United Football Club

North West regional champions Mankon United have officially begun preparations for the 2026 National Interpools as the club seeks to secure promotion to the MTN Elite Two Championship.

The Bamenda-based side earned the right to represent the North West Region after emerging winners of the regional league, overcoming stiff competition from Dream Team FC. Their triumph has raised hopes among football fans in the region who are eager to see another North West club return to Cameroon's second-tier championship.

Players and technical staff will resume intensive training sessions in the days ahead as the club prepares for the national tournament, which has been rescheduled to begin on July 19 in Yaoundé. The competition brings together champions from the country's ten regions, all battling for a limited number of two spaces for promotion to the Elite Two Championship.

Club officials say preparations will be focused on improving fitness levels, strengthening team chemistry and correcting weaknesses identified during the regional campaign. The coaching staff is also expected to arrange friendly matches to assess the squad and prepare players for the demanding competition ahead.

The National Interpools has historically served as the gateway to professional football in Cameroon, with several clubs using the tournament as a stepping stone to the Elite championships and eventually the MTN Elite One.

Mankon United's qualification is being celebrated across Bamenda and the wider North West Region, where football supporters view the club as carrying the hopes and pride of the region into the national competition.

The North West Region has enjoyed considerable success at the National Interpools in recent years, with clubs such as Rangers of Bafut, Bafmeng United and Foncha Street FC using the competition to secure promotion to Elite Two. Supporters are hoping Mankon United can continue that tradition and bring another professional football club to the region.

Among the teams already confirmed for the tournament are Mintack du Septentrion from the North Region, Rizière FC du Noun from the West Region, Hemlé de Botko from the Littoral Region, Épervier d'Ebolowa from the South Region, AS Sokoto FC of Kousseri from the Far North and Elecsport FSA from the South West Region.

For Mankon United, the mission is clear: compete strongly, make the North West proud and fight for a place among Cameroon's professional clubs.

As preparations gather pace, expectations continue to grow among supporters who believe the club has what it takes to write a new chapter in North West football history.

The coming weeks will determine whether Mankon United can turn regional success into national glory and achieve the dream of promotion to the MTN Elite Two Championship.
