Ym@ne Driver: Anticipating Risks, Saving Lives
Developed at the request of the Ministry of Transport, Ym@ne Driver is an AI-powered predictive safety solution designed to detect and prevent risky driving behaviors in real time.
Equipped with smart onboard cameras, the system continuously monitors drivers and their environment to identify:
Signs of fatigue, including drowsiness and yawning
Driver distractions, such as mobile phone use
Dangerous behaviors, including speeding or not wearing a seatbelt
External and in-vehicle risk factors
When a potential danger is detected, the system instantly triggers alerts for both the driver and remote monitoring centers, enabling immediate corrective action.
Proven Impact on Road Safety
The deployment of Ym@ne Driver has already delivered measurable results across Cameroon:
Over 500 equipped vehicles have recorded zero fatal accidents
Tens of thousands of infractions detected, leading to improved driver discipline
Safer long-distance travel for passengers
Enhanced operational efficiency for transport companies through real-time monitoring and fleet management
These outcomes demonstrate how technology can play a decisive role in improving road safety while also creating operational value.
A Collective Commitment to Safer Roads
By receiving this award, the MTN Cameroon–BeSafe consortium reaffirms its shared ambition to make road safety a national priority, driven by innovation and partnership.
“With Ym@ne Driver, we aimed to provide a practical and impactful response to road safety challenges in Cameroon.
