The Mayor of Bamenda II Council, Chenwi Peter, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, visited the Men’s Work Department of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC), where he fulfilled a pledge he made during the dedication of the Men’s Work Secretariat.

During the dedication ceremony held on April 25, 2026, and presided over by the Moderator of the PCC, Rev. Miki Hans Abia, Mayor Chenwi Peter promised to support the department with one office chair, one computer, and the sum of one million Francs CFA.

True to his promise, the Mayor visited the secretariat to hand over the items and complete the financial contribution. He had previously donated 500,000 Francs CFA and used the visit to complete the remaining balance, bringing the total amount to one million Francs CFA as promised.

The Mayor was accompanied by regional and municipal councillors during the donation ceremony.

Speaking during the event, Mayor Chenwi Peter said his support for the church was motivated by gratitude to God and appreciation for the role the church has played in shaping his life and supporting the community.

“For many years, the church has been there for us during difficult moments, “If we are alive today and able to serve the community, it is by the grace of God and through the prayers and support of the church.” Mayor Chenwi said.

He explained that although he is a politician, he also sees himself first as a Christian who must support the work of God.

“When God blesses you, it is important to give back and support His work. The church has contributed greatly to building morals and guiding the community in the right direction,” he stated.

Mayor Chenwi also used the occasion to encourage Christians and leaders to remain committed to serving humanity and supporting institutions that contribute to peace and development.

“Today I came to fulfill the promise I made because keeping promises is important. The church has played a major role in my life, and this is my own little way of saying thank you,” he added.

Receiving the gifts on behalf of the Men’s Work Department, the Secretary of the department, Rev. Paul Ngu Tah, thanked the Mayor for honoring his commitment and described the gesture as exceptional.

He noted that many politicians often make promises without fulfilling them, but Mayor Chenwi had distinguished himself by returning to complete what he promised.

“He is not acting only as a politician but as a true Christian,“He first gave 500,000 Francs CFA and today he has completed the one million Francs he promised. He also brought the office chair and computer exactly as pledged.” Rev Paul Ngu Tah.

The Reverend praised the Mayor for his honesty and commitment to the church, adding that his actions reflected the presence of God in his life.

“It is very rare these days to see leaders fulfill promises exactly the way they made them. What the Mayor has done is worthy of appreciation and encouragement,” he stated.

Rev. Paul Ngu Tah prayed for God’s blessings upon Mayor Chenwi Peter and his team, while encouraging other leaders and members of the community to emulate such acts of generosity and commitment.

The donation ceremony ended with prayers for the Mayor, the councillors who accompanied him, and the continued growth of the Men’s Work Department of the PCC.

The newly dedicated Men’s Work Secretariat is expected to strengthen the activities of the department and provide a better working environment for the coordination of men’s activities within the church.

The building was dedicated on the 25th April 2026 and Mayor Chenwi Peter is a National Patron of the CMF.
