Senator Fointama Hilda Donates Four Tons of Improved Maize Seeds to Boyo Women

In preparation for the 2026 International Women’s Day, Senator Fointama Hilda Aluma has once again demonstrated her commitment to grassroots development by donating four tons of improved maize seeds to the four subdivisions of Boyo Division.

Under this initiative, each subdivision will receive one ton of improved maize seeds for distribution to women farmers in their respective areas. The aim is simple but powerful, to support women who traditionally depend on agriculture for survival by giving them better quality seeds that will produce higher yields.

For the Kom and Bum people, maize is not just a crop. Corn fufu made from maize is their staple food. By providing improved maize seeds, Senator Fointama is helping to strengthen food security in families across Boyo Division. With better harvests, families will not only feed themselves but also sell part of their produce. The income earned can help parents pay school fees and take care of their children’s needs.

This latest donation builds on her previous support to farmers. In 2025, during her working visit to Boyo Division, Senator Fointama donated farming tools to local farmers and farming groups. The items included cutlasses, hoes, wheelbarrows, and watering cans. The donation took place on May 20 during celebrations marking the 53rd National Day in Fundong.

At the time, she encouraged farmers to continue working hard and assured them of her continued support for sustainable agriculture. Her visit was widely described as people-centered, grounded in tradition, and focused on long-term development.

Her actions have touched many lives across Boyo Division. Speaking on behalf of Belo Council, the 2nd Deputy Mayor, Mayor Lot Ndimbuuh welcomed the women from Belo and praised the Senator for not forgetting those who fled the crisis. He thanked her for consistently supporting the people both in the village and beyond.

Ma Ngoh Joy

Ngoh Joy, a member of the Belo Conscious Mothers, expressed deep gratitude. She prayed that God should bless the Senator for her good works. According to her, the Senator’s position is part of God’s plan. She said that whenever they look at their farms, they will remember her generosity. She also prayed that God grant her the wisdom of King Solomon to continue leading and serving the people well.

Through the donation of improved maize seeds in 2026 and  farm tools in 2025, Senator Fointama Hilda Aluma continues to prove that real development starts at the grassroots.

Farmers in Bum, Njinikom and Fundong subdivision will receive theirs in their council areas while after distributing in Bamenda to Belo women, Wednesday 4th March 2026 in Bamenda, the rest of the seeds will be distributed in the village.
