The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) has set its sights on winning all municipal and legislative seats in the North West Region as militants gathered in Bamenda on March 24, 2026, to celebrate the party’s 41st anniversary.
Taking centre stage during the celebration was Philemon Yang, who called on all the Section Presidents to work like never before to ensure that the CPDM gets all the 34 councils and all the 20 parliamentary seats.
To Yang, the Party currently counts 33 councils and 18 parliamentary seats which is not enough.
"When you win the councils, you are assured that you can win the Regional Assembly and you can win the senatorial elections. So the forthcoming elections are very important. We are charging our members to be prepared for the challenge ahead." Philemon Yang said.
The former Prime Minister who is also the coordinator of the party's activities in the North West als focused on peace, renewal, and the future of the region after years of hardships
He acknowledged the difficult past 10 years in the North West, marked by suffering, loss of lives and called on the population to embrace a new mindset built on forgiveness and unity
“It is time to bury the hatchet,” he said, urging people to move beyond bitterness and work towards rebuilding the region.
According to him, true progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace, stressing that no meaningful development can take place where there is division. He encouraged the population to reflect not only on the past but to focus more on the future, describing the North West as a region of hope and opportunity.
Philemon Yang also praised the strong participation of North West women during the March 8 celebrations in Yaoundé, noting that their presence sent a powerful and silent message of unity and resilience
