The Rice Value Chain Development Program (RVCDP) has successfully graduated 15 professional interns, who received their internship attestations during a ceremony in Bamenda presided over by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbairobe.

While presenting the attestations, the Minister noted that the interns had been professionally equipped to integrate into their respective fields of specialization upon graduation.

“This internship was made possible through the partnership between the Government of Cameroon and the Islamic Development Bank. The interns were trained in sustainable agriculture and community engagement, which are essential values for modern agricultural development,” Minister Mbairobe said.

Fifteen interns were selected from a pool of 148 applicants.

The Project Coordinator Muluh Gregoryurged the graduates to put their newly acquired skills to good use.

“Reflect on the wealth of knowledge gained during this program. Share your insights and empower those who are following in your footsteps,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the interns, Choves Jesse described the program as a transformative journey marked by structured learning, professional discipline, and institutional exposure.

“Through this program, Cameroon has not merely trained fifteen interns — it has refined fifteen sharper minds, strengthened invaluable human resources, and invested in capacity building that is critical to national development,” he remarked, while expressing gratitude to the Government of Cameroon, the Islamic Development Bank, and other RVCDP partners.

During the program, interns served across various departments, including contract awards, monitoring and evaluation, communication, and agricultural development.

The internship lasted one year and nine months. According to the Islamic Development Bank’s Field Director, the initiative offers a “major opportunity for young people to build skills and become valuable assets to the project and their communities in the future.”

The Rice Value Chain Development Program seeks to boost national rice self-sufficiency by increasing production, improving farmer incomes, and creating jobs through enhanced infrastructure and sector modernization.
