To ensure sustainability and modernisation of agriculture in Mankon which has become the major employer of the population, Manplanet corporation has intensified efforts to empower local families through expanded agricultural training.
The two day event from the 26-27th November 2025 saw the building of the capacities of farmers and community leaders.
They were trained in low cost production techniques including poultry, piggery and fish farming systems aimed at reducing expenses while increasing yields.
"These techniques will help families take care of themselves during this challenging period when hope is almost disappearing." The organiser, Prince Nsah Muma Angwafo III told The Observer.
The workshop unfolded under the theme;" Empowering families through poultry, piggery and fishery farming" and brought together dozens of farmers who received training in modern production methods which are cost and space effective.
Ncha Chi Stephen, personal representative of the Fon of Mankon said the initiative aims to inspire confidence and self-development through hard work. He emphasized that unity and love is essential for progress.
"This training is a community driven effort to fight unemployment, strengthen household incomes and reinforce Mankon's cultural foundations.
"We have to work, we have to be creative. We have to develop ourselves so we can live better and help our neighbours." Ncha Chi Stephen said.
This program is a part of a wider effort to promote food security and create employment through small scale agribusiness. To ensure that participants start implementing what they learnt immediately, participants were promised reduced prices for animal feed and other inputs.
The Manplanet project has rolled out 10 long term development activities over the past 13 years, ranging from cassava, maize and potato farming to piggery, poultry, fish farming, traditional cuisine, fashion and an annual football unity tournament.
This project seeks to strengthen the cultural identity of the people of Mankon while supporting livelihoods in a growing cosmopolitan town.
The participants left with one message to Manplanet, continue.
