Fundong Council Votes 902 Million FCFA Budget as Mayor Unveils Results-Oriented Vision for 2026

Fundong council will function on a budget of 902.69 million for the 2026 Financial year.

Councillors of the Fundong council adopted the budget which is balanced in income and expenditure on Saturday 29th November 2025.

The budget witnesses an increase of 29.8 million from the 2025 budget and reflects the ambitious program of development of the Mayor.

Speaking as he chaired the budget session, the Mayor of Fundong, Denis Awoh Ndang said, "2026 will witness the full implementation of the program budget, a results-oriented budgeting model introduced during the 2025 fiscal year. This system aims to improve transparency, strengthen accountability and align spending with measurable development outcomes." Mayor Denis Awoh Ndang said.

Key areas of interest will be to boost infrastructural development by funding community-centered and community selected projects across communities in Fundong subdivision. The Council will also tilt its attention towards waste disposal and management as well as handle the welfare situation of its staff.

"We have done quite a lot over the last few years to transform Fundong council. We will continue with more vigour in 2026, ensuring that Fundong shines in its development drive. We are focused and we are delivering." Mayor Awoh Ndang told The Observer.

Some the achievements of the Mayor which was brandished as outstanding in 2025 are the Fundong amusement park, and the just completed Fundong municipal rest House, standing out as landmark projects set to boast tourism and local recreation.

The councillors also saluted the Mayor for supporting persons with disabilities. Current structures under construction are disability friendly with the council running programs on disability awareness and empowerment to ensure that no one is left behind. An initiative which observers say signals a renewed vision for progress and equal opportunities.

The budget session of Fundong council was attended by the Senior Divisional Officer for Boyo, Menyong Gilbert Sunday who applauded the council for its commitment to responsible financial planning and emphasized the need for rigorous monitoring to ensure the population feels the impact of the budget.

Extension of electricity to Abu village, completion of the office blog, continuation of the integrated Health center in Metang, equipping the Fundong amusement park with facilities to serve the adult population, extension and opening of roads especially the Fundong-Along road and the construction of new classrooms as normalcy sets in other communities are the priorities of the council for 2026.
