Results of the November 30th Regional Assembly Elections have been released.
The results were released late Tuesday evening by the President of the Regional supervision committee, Justice Sokem Ngalle Mborh.
On the overall statistics, it was realized that the participation rate was impressive for municipal councillors who were voting for their Divisional Representatives.
A total of 999 electors were expected and 838 effectively took part in the elections giving a participation rate of 83.88%.
With the CPDM having the lone list across the North West Region, all 70 proposed regional Assembly members were declared elected. Conspicuous amongst the names is the incumbent President of the Assembly, Prof Fru Angwafo III.
In the House of House of Chiefs, participation varied from Division to Division. In Divisions where there was a single list, the turnout was very low.
In Boyo Division, some 67 traditional rulers were expected and only 13 actually voted. In Bui, the list of Fon Wirba Mbinglo Patrick was the lone list. Of the 66 traditional rulers expected, only 13 showed up.
Justice Sokem's commission noticed a huge turnout in Menchum, Mezam and Ngoketunjia.
In Mezam, there were two lists. One headed by the Fon of Bali, Fon Ganyonga III Doh and another headed by the Fon of Kedjom Ketinguh, Fon Viyuoh Nelson Sheteh.
The actual Voters where 30 with Fon Doh backing home 13 votes and Fon Viyuoh, 17.
A complaint was filed before the commission that a person voted on behalf of a deceased Fon.
The commission took a critical look into the matter. The complainers did not state who this person was, and even if the person according to the commission effectively voted, one vote will not reduce the gap between the two lists and so the complaint was deemed inadmissible. The list of Fon Viyuoh Nelson was declared the winner.
In other Divisions where there was real competition like in Menchum Division, the list of Fon Ndung Nuhu Mvo of Wum won with 34 votes, outclassing the incumbent Secretary of the House of Chiefs, Fon Bahmbi III Mathias with 24 votes and the third list headed by Mommandou Ardo had 8 votes. 65 of the 70 expected traditional actually voted.
In Donga Mantung, the list of Fon Nfor Amidu Nji had 59 votes as against the list of Fon Mbuim Samuel with 9 votes. 68 traditional rulers effectively voted, out of the 113 expected.
The list of Fon Gwan Mbahyam Sig III of Guzang won elections in Momo Division. Fon Gwan will be making his second entry into the House.
Of the 455 expected electors, only 238 effectively voted across the North West Region with the incumbent President of the House, Fon Yakum Kevin Teuvih winning the one horse race in Ngoketunjia.
So the House of Divisional Representatives is hereby constituted as follows:
