Hon. Alhadji Hamza Danpullo, re-elected member of the North West Regional Assembly, has donated bags of rice to Christian families in Old Town as they prepare to celebrate Christmas, a significant Christian feast marking the birth of Jesus Christ.
Speaking during the donation exercise, Hon. Danpullo explained that the gesture reflects the core values of Islam, which promote peace, love, tolerance, and social cohesion among people of all faiths.
“We are all one before Allah. Islam does not discriminate based on religion. Islam stands for peace, love, and reconciliation,” he said.
The initiative, which began in 2024, is now in its second edition. This year’s donation targeted elderly women and young mothers, who often bear the responsibility of feeding their families and welcoming visitors during the Christmas period.
Hon. Danpullo expressed joy at the smiles and appreciation shown by the beneficiaries, noting that their happiness motivates him to continue the initiative.
“Seeing them receive these gifts with joy makes me very happy. I pray that Allah continues to give me the means to keep supporting them,” he added.
Beneficiary mothers expressed deep gratitude for the timely assistance. One of them, speaking in, said she was overwhelmed by the gesture and prayed for God to continue blessing the Hon Hamza so he would never be tired of supporting the community.
Another beneficiary, visibly excited, described Hon. Danpullo as “our own Father Christmas.”
Rice remains a central dish in many Christian households during Christmas celebrations. With this donation, many families in Old Town are assured of sharing a warm meal with their children and guests, reinforcing the spirit of unity and coexistence that the season represents.
Hamza Danpullo was re-elected into the North West Regional Assembly on the 30th November 2025 to serve his second mandate, representing Bamenda II subdivision in Mezam Division.
