Bamenda City Mayor Invites President Biya to Begin New Mandate with Visit to Bamenda

The City Mayor of Bamenda, Achobong Tambeng Paul has extended a special invite to the President of the Republic to start his new mandate by paying a visit to Bamenda.

Speaking to The Observer, Achobong Paul visibly elated, stated that; "Bamenda is his second home. The people of Bamenda and the North West Region massively voted for the Head of State and we think his visit to Bamenda will foster peace and development." The city Mayor said.

The North West Region recorded the best results for President Paul Biya at 83.6% only second to the South Region.

The authorities of Bamenda were emphatic that it was time for the President with his new Vision of greatness and hope to commence in Bamenda.

Bamenda the City Mayor says is because the President of the Republic commenced his visits to the regions shortly after he assumed the supreme Magistracy of the state to Bamenda. His first agric show in 1984 was organized in Bamenda and the launching of the CPDM party took place in Bamenda on March 24, 1985.

Significantly, Bamenda and the North West is a region after the heart of the President of the Republic that have shown without doubt their support to the President with some 169,000 votes recorded in Mezam Division.

Paul Achobong made the request shortly after the administration of the North West Region led by Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique watched the swearing in ceremony of President Paul Biya at the Bamenda I Council Hall on November 6th, 2025.

The invitation if accepted by the President of the Republic, will be coming at a time when construction works on the Bamenda Urban Bypass have been launched, the ring road from Kumbo through Ndu to Misaje is ongoing, the Head office of the Rice Value Chain Project is under construction adding the ongoing establishment of the Bamenda dry port and the University teaching hospital.

Projects which the City Mayor says will completely transform the North West Region.

The message inviting the President of the Republic to Bamenda was also echoed by the three section Presidents of Mezam IA, IB and IC in a motion of support addressed to the President of the Republic and handed to the Governor of the North West Region.

In the motion read by Cletus Anye Matoyah, the militants and sympathizers of the CPDM have pledged their unalloyed loyalty to the institutions of the Republic as President Paul Biya commences his 8th term.
