Minister Mbayu Felix, president of the CPDM Mezam Divisional Campaign Team, has led a campaign rally on October 11 at Old Town.
The Divisional Campaign head, born of Old Town, called on the population to maintain the love and coexistence that the community has always had in the past with Christians and Muslims living as one people having no divides in sociopolitical ideologies.
"We grew up attending same primary school at a time when we had only three primary schools in Bamenda. Today we have numerous schools thanks to H.E Paul Biya. In the whole of the North West at the time we had only CCAST Bambili as the lone secondary and high school but today we have several government and private secondary schools all thanks to President Paul Biya. I made four days on my way to Yaounde when I was seeking admission into the university in Yaounde but today within six hours you are in Yaounde all thanks to the good road infrastructure put at our disposal by Paul Biya. He promised us with a ring road, despite the huddles that surrounded it's coming, finally the project has begun." Mbayu Felix recounted to the population of Old Town.
Apart from the successes listed by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations, he called on the population not to give listening ears to unrealistic promises from detractors who he described as "people with puckets all over their dresses that never gets full" explaining that those are people who only have interest for themselves.
The minister advised and pleaded with the population of Old Town to be watchful of bad advice to indulge in deviant acts of violence before during and after the elections. " They know that the CPDM will win so they want to start causing confusion upfront.
"We will win the election clean and clear and our children are not supposed to be the ones to be misled into violence" Minister Felix Mbayu cautioned the CPDM militants and party sympathizers of Old Town.
As a True born of the Old Town Community, Minister Felix Mbayu led a foot Tour Within Old Town reuniting and receiving blessings from the gods of the community. Here he inspired the young people. Telling that he rose from Old Town to become a Minister. So they should hope, think, believe and aspire to be like him and even greater.
The Minister was accompanied on the campaign trail by the Sarki of Old Town, and Muslim councillors of Bamenda II.
To councillor Abdullah Musa, "when prophet Muhammed faces persecution in Mecca, bs found protection under a Christian King in Ethiopia. That shows that faith has never been a barrier to harmony. Islam does not tell us to vote only for Muslims. It tells us to choosely wisely." Councillors Abdullah said.
To Alhadji Bala Tanko, it was time to vote for the future. He prescribed that all the voters should who have chosen the CPDM as a party, should start by convincing their family members.
It should be noted that, Old Town which is a strong hold of the Abakwa community share a bond of love, peace and harmony between Christians and Muslims who have a common sense of appreciation towards goodwill actions and testimonies especially from Minister Mbayu.
