COVID-19: AS North West receives vaccines, Health workers prioritize


Consignments of the vaccine received 

The Northwest region after the Center and the West regions have received its share of the coronavirus vaccines. 

On hand to receive the vaccines at the regional  Delegation of public health was the Secretary General of the region, Viang Mekala. 

A total of 11400 doses of the SINOPHARM VACCINE against COVID-19 were received. 




In a presentation by the regional Delegate of public health, in a recent epidemiological situational analysis as of the 10th of April 2021, 83,066 tests were conducted, 4,580 positive cases,3774 recoveries, 633 persons are active cases. The death toll stands at 173.
Some 41 pregnant women tested positive with 2 deaths. 


Dr Kingsley Che Soh vaccinated


According to the Northwest regional Delegate of public health Dr Che Soh Kingsley, these vaccines will be taken in two phases in the interval of 3 weeks.

Out of the 11400 doses of the SINOPHARM VACCINE sent to the region priority will be given to health personnel who are at the frontline to fight against COVID-19.

The SINOPHARM VACCINE, Health experts say is very effective against covid19 looking at the clinical trial data,it is 79% effective against the symptomatic form of the disease and 100% effective against the severe form of the disease. 

At least 570 persons will be vaccinated and this will happen in the next couple of weeks.

Health personnel at the front line

The regional delegate of Public Health further says some 23 selected health facilities will serve as focal point for the vaccines

"we all know how health personnel have suffered wth covid19 and  I think that is why they have been chosen as priority to be administered the vaccine during the first phase and again we have to encourage the health personnel who shall benefit from the vaccination to continue to respect barrier measures that have been prescribed by the ministry of public health with the recommendations of WHO and I'm calling on all my collaborators, all my colleagues to turn out massively to receive this important vaccine as that is going to burst our moral in managing all covid19 patients." Vaing Mekala, SG NW Governor's office, launches vaccination process

In his speech to launch this campaign of the vaccination against covid19 the Secretary General at the governor's office noted that the health personnel in all 20 health districts and in all the 7 Divisions of the region will be given priority. 

The General public has been encouraged to continue respecting the barrier measures against the coronavirus while the state tries to acquire more vaccines for every Cameroonian
