Ntambag Brothers, a Common Initiative Group (C.I.G) based in Old Town, Bamenda, in Cameroon's Northwest region has donated some preventive hygiene kits to the population of Ntambag I, II and III neighbourhoods in a bid to help them fight against the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the locality.

The hygiene kits comprising buckets, soap, hand sanitizers and face masks were handed over to the population during a door-to-door sensitization campaign carried out Thursday April 16, 2020.

Speaking while handing the items to the population, Ndimbu Polycarp, President of Ntambag Brothers, disclosed that the initiative has made available about 1000 masks with plans underway to do more in a bid to completely bar the way to the virus in the neighbourhood.

"They should make good use of these face masks. Whenever they're going out, they should make sure they have the mask and wash their hands regularly", Ndimbu said, adding, that some 500 hand sanitizers have already been produced with more underway.

Ndimbu called on the population to strictly adhere to preventive measures prescribed by government through the Prime Minister, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute as well as those outlined by the World Health Organisation, WHO.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries of Ntambag I, the quarter head, lauded the initiative which he said will go a long way to help them combat the virus.

He promised on behalf of the population that judicious use will be made of the items and more sensitizations carried out to edify locals of the dangers of the virus and more preventive measures.

Paul Foncham, another beneficiary thanked the donors and pledged to spread the good news gathered through the sensitization by encouraging others to ensure strict respect of the basic hand washing rules.

Health officials of the neighbourhood also lauded the initiative. Dr Leke Atemnkeng Boduin, Medical Doctor at the Ntambag Integrated Health Centre pledged on behalf of his staff to put the resources in place and ensure they are used for the purpose for which it was intended and ensure Ntambag community is not affected by the covid-19 pandemic.

Worth noting is the fact that the Ntambag Brothers CIG was formed some 16 years ago. The initiative has as goal to reach out to underprivileged persons of the community when need arises.
