Nche Fru Abongwa Earns Masters Degree in Public Finance, Dedicates it to National Development

Nche Fru Abongwa, President of the YCPDM Mezam IB Section has earned a Masters Degree in public Finance with speciality in National Economy and Public Management from the Advanced Program of Specialisation in Public Finance (PSSFP), University of Yaounde II.

Fru Nche Abongwa was one of the 315 laureates who successfully completed the program in the 7th, 8th and 9th batches of the school.



With his wealth of knowledge in the accounting field, Fru Nche Abongwa has served as Municipal treasurer for Bafut council and currently serves as a financial expert at the Bamenda II Council.

His success in obtaining this prestigious Masters Degree in Public Finance broadens his knowledge in financial analysis, budget preparation, execution and follow-up.

"My decision to pursue a Masters in Public Economy and Public Management is driven by my passion for enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and sustainability of public sector institutions. Having served in various finance roles within local councils, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges related to public financial management, policy implementation, and resource allocation. This program provides the theoretical foundation and practical tools necessary to design, implement, and evaluate public policies that promote socio-economic development.

"Furthermore, as a finance professional working in local government, I recognize the urgent need for well-trained experts who understand the economic principles underlying public decision-making, as well as the management skills required to lead reforms and ensure good governance. This Master’s program aligns perfectly with my career goals of becoming a more effective public administrator, capable of contributing meaningfully to national development and institutional reform." Fru Abongwa said


At the Yaounde conference centre 

The graduation ceremony of the 7th, 8th and 9th batches at the Yaounde Conference Center was presided at by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Finance, Yaouba Abdoulaye who encouraged the laureates to "be prudent in the management of the financial resources in the places you will be called to serve. They're very scarce so you all need to be prudent." Minister Abdoulaye said.

Hon. Rosette Julienne Epouse Ayayi,  Mentor of the batch and President Committee on Finance and the Budget of the National Assembly 


The training of the three batches were placed under the mentorship of Honourable Rosette Julienne Epouse Ayayi, President of the Committee on Finance and Budget of the National Assembly.

Herself, a finance expert, graduate of ENAM with specialisation in the Treasury, Hon Rosette Julienne Ayayi served in various sectors of National life and also as the Interim Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance. 

Speaking to the laureates, Hon Ayayi called on them to be exemplary as only those who are exceptional will go far. She applauded the synergy that exists between researchers and parliamentarians saying; "University research and the work of parliamentarians is complimentary. Their research guides us to debate properly and helps us to open parliamentary commissions of inquiry." The member of Parliament since 2007 said.

Speaking earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of the University of Yaounde II, Prof Desire Avom said the coming of the COVID-19 pandemic greatly changed the course of the institution that adapted to distance learning and technology. Prof Avom congratulated the laureates for their perseverance and said ;" they are ready for the job market. Ready to defend the good use of public funds and ready to put their expertise in the preparation and control of public finances." Prof Desire Avom said.

The Advanced Program of Specialisation in Public Finance runs five programs with different specialisations.
