Award winning Bafut Council Enumerates people-sensitive projects for 2022

Councillors of Bafut Council have voted unanimously the budget of 2022 financial year balanced in Revenue and expenditure of one billion and forty nine million, six hundred and ninety thousand, seven hundred and two francs. (1,049,690,702). 

This budget has witnessed an increase of 288million FCFA as compared to a budget of 749,868,000FCFA voted for the 2021 financial year. 

The adopted budget has as priority, to see the ; 

Construction of two classrooms and supply of benches GS Swie
Rehabilitation of  classrooms 
Rehabilitation of municipal roads 
Support to vulnerable population 
Electrification of some villages 
Construction of Health Centre 
Farm to market Bridges 
Water supply and protection of catchments
Meat slaps 
Assistance to internally Displaced Persons 
Sponsorship 
Purchase of service vehicles and others earmarked for the 2022 financial  year. 

With sand mining, ginger cultivation being the main source of revenue for the council, the council is Bent harnessing this activity in the 2022.

So far, the socio-political crisis in the municipality which has been a threat to several developmental and income generating activities, had equally forced many to abandon these activities, but of recent have found their way back which will eventually serve as a plus to the municipality. 

As highlighted by Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence, hopes are high that the reconstruction process launched last year will effectively kick off in Bafut where those who lost property to the crisis, will see them reconstructed.

According to Paul Tasong, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Economy and Chairperson of the reconstruction plan, their aim is to build better on what was destroyed.

Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence ended the year on a high as the council backed home 2 million francs after emerging best council in the execution of the public investment budget from the council support fund for mutual assistance, FEICOM.

With than 97% of projects executed, the Bafut Council and its Mayor has put down a strategy to ensure that revenue collection is effectively done for development of the municipality. The Mayor has also promised to do more to ensure that all earmarked projects for 2022 are effectively done.

Community leaders who have been in search of local development for decades have been rushing to the residence of the Mayor to congratulate him for a job well done in 2021.
