Former Governor To Head Disarmament Committee

Fai Yengo Francis

The former Governor of the North West, Centre and Littoral Regions, Fai Yengo Francis has been appointed as National Coordinator of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Committee

In a Presidential Decree signed on Tuesday, the 4th December 2018 appointing the former Civil Administrator, the head of State has given to him the mandate to work to ensure that separatists fighters down their weapons in the North West and South West Regions and be reintegrated into National life

In a decree signed on Friday, November 30th, 2018 creating the said committee, the Head of State placed the structure under the supervision of the Prime Minister, Head of Government with Centres in Bamenda, Buea and Mora

The committee will have a herculean task to convince separatists fighters who want to create a new state called Ambazonia to drop their weapons and return to normal life in the Republic. This is evident with the incessant attacks recorded in the villages in the North West and South West Regions with Divisions like Donga Mantung cut-off from the rest of the Region

Fai Yengo Francis will have to bring in his more than 25 years of Civil Administration to arrest this crisis

Before his appointment, he was Board Chair of the National Civil Status Registry
